Senior Cybersecurity Consultant

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Serve as United States Air Force voting representative to the Defense Security/Cybersecurity Authorization Working Group (DSAWG), providing critical risk analysis and support for Air Force initiatives as part of the DoD risk assessment and accreditation process
  2. Research, coordinate, and respond to DSAWG tickets efficiently, accurately, and effectively in order to adequately represent the Air Force; assist the DSAWG membership in making sound information protection decisions within the Defense Information System Network (DISN) community
  3. Serve as the Air Force Service Representative Officer (SRO) for Temporary Exception to Cybersecurity Policy process, providing SME support to USAF component organizations applying for temporary exceptions for commercial internet connections into USAF facilities to achieve mission goals and requirements
  4. Assist AF organizations in fulfilling mission requirements by coordinating and adjudicating DoD Temporary Exception to Policy requests while striving to maintain essential capabilities and operational time lines.
  5. Conduct risk assessment, review, and analysis of Air Force cybersecurity policies and processes, including gaps and potential mitigation strategies
  6. Review Joint Service capability documents for cybersecurity inclusion and provide recommendations to stakeholders
  7. Write, coordinate, and review current and draft information security polices for the DoD and Air Force
  8. Maintain authorized user groups, work flow, and create process improvements for the dissemination of cybersecurity information.


  1. Familiarity with DoD, and SAF/CIO A6 policies and instructions as they pertain to cybersecurity
  2. Exposure to DoD/Military headquarters organizations and functions
  3. Experience briefing and fielding questions from DoD/Military senior leaders
  4. Experience interacting with external peer and subordinate organizations
  5. Customer/Client Relationship Management
  6. DoD Security Clearance
  7. Undergraduate degree
  8. CISSP Certification
  9. Military experience preferred

Additional Knowledge:

  1. Ability to analyze policy and doctrine and translate what is read into needs statements, requirements, courses of action, etc.
  2. Ability to capture and discuss task/project metrics, analytics, and analysis
  3. Ability to conceptualize problem, solution, and/or method to resolve a given issue derived from meetings, conversations, telephone conferences, etc.
  4. Ability to conceptualize, execute, and deliver with little to no supervision or direction (self-managed).
  5. Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as professional demeanor when interacting with and briefing senior military and government civilian leadership
