Mac Systems Engineer/Developer

Essential Functions:

  • Assigned to Operations Engineering as the lead Mac packager for the entire agency
  • Responsible for development and packaging of all software applications for all NASA Mac systems
  • Assist with development of the Agency 'gold build' used for baseline system imaging
  • Primary engineer for NASA Agency Nasa Post Forwarders and SMTP relays
  • Backup engineer for Agency Microsoft Lync, Web Applications and Outlook Web Client
  • Backup engineer for Centrify Server (Mac AD integration and Elevated Privilege Control)
  • Lead Mac engineer for all Mac issues in Infrastructure Engineering
  • Assist Platform Engineering with testing and development of new software applications


  • Mac OS (10.6.x to present) Development level expertise including bash scripting and application development and packaging
  • Familiar with multiple endpoint deployment/management tools SCCM, LanRev, SWImage, WSUS, Accelerite Endpoint Management (formerly HP Client Automation/Radia Client Automation)
  • Various Linux OS systems (RHEL, CentOS) administration level (1995-present)
  • System integration and troubleshooting. Skilled in determining root cause issues and develop solutions of complex system issues. (1992-present)
  • Enterprise monitoring systems (Zenoss, Netcool, HPOM, SCOM, SolarWinds Orion, Nagios) Managing to architecting solutions using these types of systems (2007-present)
  • Microsoft COTS both Mac and PC platforms (1995-Present)
    • Windows OS (XP to Present) Expert level knowledge of Windows OS including packaging, scripting and application development and deployment.
    • Experience working with Configuration Management in an operational environment
    • Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and communicate clearly with people at different levels of the organization, including the ability to explain and discuss complex issues using a range of tools, styles and techniques
    • Experience working with a complex multi system, multi site environment
    • Experience in documenting process and procedures
    • Excellent verbal, and interpersonal skills; and excellent documented written communication skills
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities
  • Team player with the ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Sceince or Engineering is desirable. 5-7 years of experience with Apple and MAC products and services required. Certified on Mac products desired.
